Beatroot Jam is a country music trio based in South Gippsland, working with acoustic and electric country roots styles.
The members are Steve Durie on vocals and guitars, Ken Pietrzak on bass and harmony vocals and Roni Linser on drums/percussion. The three of us worked together as the rhythm section for the band Obliqua which played around Gippsland a few years back, and we became a pretty tight unit. Obliqua won a recording award on Gippsland Uncovered and some airplay on the ABC as well as 3mFM. We performed support shows for Harry Manx and James Reyne.
We are now performing as a trio, pursuing our mutual interest in country music, mostly vintage and roots styles from Nashville and Texas, with a dash of southern blues, swing and R&B.
